“We need people in our lives with whom we can be as open as possible. To have real conversations with people may seem like such a simple, obvious suggestion, but it involves courage and risk.” ― Thomas Moore
The key to helpful psychotherapy is to recognize you in all of your individuality. With empathy as my main tool, I learn what matters to you and what your world is like. Doing so helps me to understand your strengths and values. Then, you and I together can figure out ways of bringing about the changes you want to see in life. For many people though, being truly recognized in therapy is a powerful and validating experience. In short, there is no cookie-cutter way to do psychotherapy but I can tailor treatment to you as a person.
My undergraduate studies were in Education and Social Sciences. That led to experience as an instructor working with adults (ESL), teenagers (SAT), and children (English). I also received an AAMFT (American Association of Marriage and Family Therapists) certification in the treatment of addiction.
At one point or another we all could use help. Psychotherapy can be a valuable resource as part of your effort toward healing, meaning, and greater sense of contentment.
